The main voyage with the new boat happened this past week. YIKES! It is an amazing package and I have yet to catch a Walleye out of it. The fish may run, but we will catch them and in a hurry, as the boat moves out at 50 MPH. (YIKES) The 1900 Lund PRO V is the dream come true for Walleye anglers and I think each and everyone of you that get an opportunity to fish with me in it will agree.

Well I hope everyone had an enjoyable Winter and Spring, but now its time to get those poles ready for another exciting open water season. I am more excited than ever and I'm looking forward to those hook-setting, Walleye-catching trips that lay in front of us.

As the excitement builds, we are now less then two weeks out from another open water season. With all of the warm Spring temps, it seems that opening day should have been here a month ago.

So how many anglers plan on hitting Red Lake opening day? After eight years of closed water, it should and will be exciting to get up to Red Lake and catch those sweet-tasting Walleyes. It is difficult to say Red Lake and Walleyes again, but the time and talk is growing daily. If you plan on heading to Red, please check the rules for the lake, that goes for all lakes in the area. Many of the lakes have slot limits, and it is very important to know what you can legally keep in each body of water.

For me, it will be another opening weekend on the traditional Winnie. It should be very good again this season and if the weather stays consistent from now until opening morning, it should be dynamite!

Many other lakes in the area should be in full swing in another couple of weeks including Pokegama, Splithand, Trout, Bowstring and Sand. Other option should be Jesse, Round, and Island lakes. Along with numerous other bodies, it is becoming a sport of numerous choices with good to great results from all listed, thanks to the efforts of the DNR and the on going efforts of stocking and slot limits. The slot limits will continue to show the real meaning of success as each of the lakes continue to improve in numbers and size.

As the season ever so slowly inches up to us again this year, I hope everyone geta a chance to explore the endless opportunities of fishing that we have in the Northland and continues to protect our natural resource that so many take for granted at times.
