What a week! Winnie has fish nearly jumping in the boat as those water temps sore above the 60 degree mark. Walleyes of all sizes seem to be the theme on Winnie with many fish coming in the slot and many more just the right size.

1/16 oz MAXGAP jigs tipped with a silver shiner and jigged aggressively makes for some serious action. We have concentrated the efforts in the 6-9 feet of water. The hot area of the lake remains on the North and West shorelines. I can't tell you the importance of jigging. The harder and quicker you jig the presentation, the better the action.

Look for many of the typical areas on the North shore to fill with walleye this week along with those areas on the East shore. With the surface temps pushing the middle 60's, we should have some of the best action in the next week or so and then I would expect to start seeing some of those deep water hideaways to fill with life.

Red Lake is starting to show some signs of those crappies, but most anglers heading to Red are after the walleyes. The anglers' success has been incredible. Anglers are seeing the true meaning of fishing and the walleye factory that Red was back in the day.

Red lake presents a great opportunity to catch pure numbers and throw in some huge crappies and it will be a day like no other. The walleyes are ranging in depths, but it will be tough to argue with that 6-8 feet of water.

So as summer slowly inches in and the fishing opportunities gain strength and activity, no better time then now to get out and get a line wet.

See ya out there,
