My boat is for sale. Check it out here.

Before getting to the report, I want to thank Cory Studer and Terry Mackenthun for all of their help last week in search of finding a good bite for the tourney on Mille Lacs. If you haven't had a chance to fish Mille Lacs, I would recommend making plans to get there. I have yet to see the consistent numbers of 26-28 inch walleyes like we did throughout the four days of fishing Mille Lacs. Thanks again guys.

Fall continues to inch toward us each and every day! Before long we will be setting decoys or sitting in those deer stands awaiting those big antlers. Before we get there, we still have some of the best fishing of the year throughout the next two months.

Last week I found myself chasing walleyes on one of the walleye meccas in the state, Mille Lacs. Here we found walleyes in a number of sizes and depths. On days that the winds were blowing, we were catching walleyes with bobbers in less than two feet of water. When the winds slowed down we moved to the deeper gravel and rock and pulled spinners with rock runners and found consistent action. The most amazing thing with Mille Lacs is the consistent size of big fish from 26-28 inches, but it is a lake that will produce numbers of eater fish too. The slot on Mille Lacs right now is 22-28 inches.

Lake Winnie is slowly picking up speed. Still, the bite is inconsistent with the shallow water fish showing life one day and the next day they are gone. The deep water action is more consistent, but the numbers are much less most days. With the water temps finally starting to drop, look for the Fall frenzy to be right around the corner.

The Pokegama Lake fishing continues to be one of action. If you're looking for pure rod-bending fun, Pokegama is certainly a lake that can make that happen for you. The walleyes are starting to show themselves consistently after dark on those salmo sting and hornets. We have found the edges that have deep water are holding the more active fish after dark. The bass fishing continues to be world class and those crappies are simply unstoppable this season. The main crappie action continues to be that last hour of the day, but once you find them, they sure make for fast and furious action.

So with time winding down on the summer of 2006 and the Fall fast approaching, look for the action on many area lakes to become more consistent and look for those fish to start concentrating in those typical Fall spots.

Let those water temps slowly cool down and let the fish get hungry.

See you on the water,
