The Fall bite sure is one to remember and if you're looking for some heavy Walleye action, Winnie and Cutfoot are surely the answer. The TV show that I filmed with Kent Hrbek and Mark Parrish is tops of my list this week as it is going to air this week starting Saturday. With Parrish and the Minnesota Wild already focusing on Lord Stanley's cup in the NHL, it was sure a great opportunity to not only fish with him and Kent, but to hear about all the neat opportunities both of these talented individuals have had.

One of the most interesting pieces was how Kent wanted to play hockey his whole life and Mark wanted to be a baseball player, it sure seems amazing that they ended up playing as professional in the sport that the other had so much passion for. See the show times listed below or go to www.khotv.com to see more show times. I hope you enjoy the show as much as we enjoyed filming it.

A special thanks goes out to Beautiful Bowen Logde on Lake Winnie. Bowen Lodge hosted the crew from Kent Hrbek Outdoors and put the absolutely perfect touch with there five class resort. If you haven't been to Bowen's on Lake Winnie, you're missing out on adding the perfect touch to that trip. You can find Bowen Lodge on the web at www.bowenlodge.com or call them at 218-246-8707. Thanks Bill, Gail, and Bob! Keep up the great work!

The Fall cool down finally arrives in the Northland, but the Walleyes make for some hot days on many area lakes, especially Winnie and Cutfoot. The Walleye bite continues to be one that many anglers are saying is one of the better Fall bites they can remember in a long time, at least on Winnie and Cutfoot.

The Walleyes are wanting to eat daily on Winnie and the preferred bait is a jig and minnow and they have really decided that the bait of choice is going to be those spot-tail shiners. Most days, we are finding those 1/16 oz. MAXGAP jigs in the watermelon or parrot colors producing best. The North shore along with the endless structure of Cutfoot are holding the best numbers of active fish. While fishing the North shore, most of the fish are holding in that 4-8 feet of water. Cutfoot seems to be slightly deeper with most of the consistent action coming in that 8-14 foot of water.

With the recent cool down, the fish have started to want the jig fish a bit slower than what we have seen over the last couple of weeks. When jigging the Walleyes, a simple straight up and down motion of the rod tip from the nine to twelve o'clock position, will typically out-fish most other motions. While jigging this way, try to always keep that line tight. Typically when one starts to drop that rod tip down from twelve to nine, one will feel a slight tick on the end of the rod as the dropping motion has been the triggering motion for most of the bites. Once you feel that tick, give them with a tight line to the count of three, and then give them a hard hook set.

So with the grouse numbers below what was expected and the ducks almost non-existent at this point, one can find some great Walleye fishing on many of the local lakes, and remember that the October full moon is on the 26th. If you're looking for the biggest bites of the year, each year that October and November full moon period produces some monster Walleyes. I know I will be on Mille Lacs in October.

See you on the water,
