So with the middle of February upon us and the Walleye season coming to a close in less than 10 days, now one can really focus on those panfish or get to the numbers of Spring sport shows that are soon to be upon us. There will be a number of shows coming our way starting with the Ray's Sport and Marine open house at the end of February, then the Builders show ( March 6th and 7th) where I will be giving a seminar on increasing speed techniques for Walleyes which will be held Friday night at 7:00 PM and then again Saturday at 4:00 PM. Then we will see the boat show at the IRA civic center on March 14th-16th, where again a number of seminars will happen. One can also stop by the Jaycee show on March 22nd and attend a day filled with seminars presented by the Northern Minnesota Guide League. If nothing else, it is a good time to stop by and see many of the new products available for the up coming season.
As for the fishing report...the cold ever-so-changing weather that we have experienced again this week has continued to cause havok on many anglers success, or better yet the lack of opportunity to get out and enjoy a day on the ice. For those anglers wanting to brave the elements of high winds and very cold temperatures, most have found the bite to be slow at best when chasing the Walleyes and Perch. The panfish anglers are still finding better numbers on many of the local lakes, but the size of the fish continue to be much smaller then one would like.
With the best ice fishing season coming over the next 8 weeks, along with those warmer temperatures, no better time than now to start thinking about the upcoming water season or getting some new line on those ice fishing rods, for that last season ice bite. If you're looking for an outstanding ice line, look for the Vicious line, it truly is a line that will help find, feel, and catch those fish.
See you on the water,
